My husband, Kurt, and I (Janet) were high school sweethearts and married in 1974. We where born in Northeast Pennsylvania and traveled with the military in our early marriage. Kurt just completed his 7th college degree, I'm sure you can relate to those perpetual learners, right? His field has always been education. This began in our early marriage, through his military career and has continued into his later years. His PhD and now his MBA have completed his educational bucket list, we think??
My passion has always been in nursing and the medical field. This began as a young child watching my beloved Aunt Leila work her magic in promoting health and wellness. While raising our family, I began my nursing career in 1990 and then I earned my Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner in 1999. I fulfilled my dream to work in the pediatric field throughout my career and am still going strong. I guess you could say "I am what I want to be when I grow up."
We were raised in the Pocono mountain area, therefore we have a long history of what this area has to offer. There was nothing more important to us than family. We learned from a very early age the importance of gathering and sharing. Our parents taught us that and our passion to continue this tradition lead us to become hosts in our home, and further share what this area has to offer.
Our name, "Old Roots Creek Bed and Breakfast," is significant because the creek that runs in front of our house, which can be heard during our quiet nights, was originally named Roots Creek. More importantly, just as we have returned to our roots many years ago we encourage all our guests to join us in our mindset and take time to relax and return to their roots. We offer the perfect environment to do that. You can even treat yourself and book an in-home massage!! Our spa-like setting promotes calm and peace while nestled in exclusivity. We look forward to welcoming our guests to our home so they can find their own roots and return to their lives rejuvenated.
